The Best Cream Blushes for Brown Skin

Who said we can only have radiant, dewy skin in the summer? For me, I plan to bring that flushed, glowy goddess energy right into the cooler months of the year — how you ask? Two words: cream blush.

But if you have a brown complexion, finding the right blush for dark skin can be a grueling task. However, as both a makeup artist, lover, and expert, I’ve got you covered (trust me on this one — I've tested dozens of products over the years).

Before we get into it, I did want to share that if you happen to have oily skin like myself, and as a result have shied away from cream blush in the past, one simple hack is to just lightly pat a translucent powder over your cheeks once you've finished. Then you'll be all set – quite literally! (More makeup hacks can be found on my Instagram @wing.it.beauty).

But back to the point: Discover the top five cream blushes that work across brown skin tones, ahead.

MAC Glow Play Blush in Groovy

Sephora/ InStyle

To shop: $33; maccosmetics.com

MACs Glow Play blushes are known for their unique cushiony formula. And this shade in particular is made of cotton candy and barbiecore dreams (not literally, but you get the point). While it may seem a bit bright for some, I encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and jump into this playful, buildable, pinky coral shade. And as someone with textured skin, I love that I am able to get such a pigmented result without enhancing my pores. This blush can be paired with a pink lipstick or gloss.

Patrick Ta Double-Take Crème & Powder Blush in She’s Blushing

Sephora/ InStyle

To shop: $34; sephora.com

Recently, I had the chance to ask celebrity MUA, Patrick Ta what his favorite blush is at the moment. He said, “She’s Blushing” – and that it’s what he pulls every single day. As soon as I got his response, I knew I had to get my hands on it, and I’m so glad I did. What makes his compact unique is that it contains both a crème and powder blush, so you can set everything perfectly. This thoughtful attention to detail is something I appreciate as a makeup artist and package designer. The shade and skin-like formula complement my brown skin so well. I would classify this as something universal that would pair well with any eye look or lippie. It is truly stunning.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip and Cheek Glow in Color of Passion

Sephora/ InStyle

To shop: $40; charlottetilbury.com

This one’s for all my busy bees on the go, and one of Charlotte Tilbury’s best kept secrets. Apply this berry-pink formula on both your cheeks and lips using your fingers for a quick, cohesive look. The warmth from your fingers allows the formula to glide on the skin so smoothly, and you'll be left with the most heavenly glow. Another plus? The vitamin E along with beeswax incorporated in this formula helps condition the skin. Pro tip: To take things to the next level, you can even apply this to your eyelids. We love a multifunctional product, and Tilbury delivered just that.

Huda Beauty Cheeky Tint in Rebel Red & Baddie Berry

Sephora/ InStyle

To shop: $25; sephora.com

Clearly Huda Kattan said, "Let's amp up the glow with this one" when she created this product. This easy-to-apply stick formula is the glowiest blush that I’ve tried. And I adore it so much that I couldn’t settle on just one shade. “Rebel Red” looks fantastic on deeper skin tones and effortlessly complements warm hues. But if you’re feeling adventurous, “Baddie Berry” is a gorgeous deep plum shade that pairs flawlessly with a deep fall lippie. The formula is infused with vitamin E, making it ultra-moisturizing, and perfect to combat the cool weather ahead.

Rare Beauty Stay Vulnerable Melting Cream Blush in Nearly Rose

Sephora/ InStyle

To shop: $21; sephora.com

You better continue to keep an eye out for Selena Gomez, because she does not miss! Her makeup line is known for having the most pigmented blushes on the market — and it's a fact, in my opinion. However, the Stay Vulnerable Melting Cream Blush gives you a more subtle option. It is buildable, so you can make it more pigmented. But you can also just apply one layer for a daily wear. Either way, this blush gives you the most gorgeous glow from within.
