Carrie Bradshaw shoes: 12 iconic pairs that you need in your life

Please sir, you can take my Fendi baguette, you can take my ring and watch, but you can't take my Manolo Blahniks!" Words to live by, if ever we heard them. No on-screen heroine is more sartorially obsessed than Carrie Bradshaw, and as such, she has the footwear wardrobe to match her impeccable taste.

Played by Sarah Jessica Parker, the star of HBO's Sex And The City is known for her penchant for cosmopolitans and relentless relationship drama but above all else, Carrie's ultra-covetable closet is one of the show's greatest stars.

The woman behind the wardrobe, renowned costume designer Patricia Field, went above and beyond to ensure that Carrie's shoe game was the cream of the crop. From her trademark satin Manolos to sparkly clear mules, the star's now-retro footwear is still utterly relevant in 2023.

Hello! Fashion shares the iconic pairs of Carrie Bradshaw-approved shoes that we need in our life:

Snakeskin boots

Animal print is something of a pattern classic – and Carrie's snakeskin knee-highs will go down in fashion history.

Blue satin pumps

The term 'iconic' is bandied around constantly, but there is no pair more deserving of the label than Carrie's Hangisi jewel buckle heels by Manolo Blahnik. The pumps were part of her proposal story, and they even made an appearance in the spin-off series, And Just Like That.

Clear mules

Carrie took a splash in season three, straight into Central Park's pond – as did her Richard Tyler Resort 2001 ruffle dress and sparkly clear mules. Bonus points for inadvertent practicality, we reckon they must have been at least semi-waterproof?

Disco platforms

One of our favourite pairs to grace the screen in And Just Like That was Carrie's Terry de Havilland Lena Non-Stop Disco platforms. The esteemed shoe designer impacted the face of 1970s footwear beyond comparison, and we love that modern day Carrie refuses to shy away from vertiginous heel heights.

Two-tone monochrome boots

Classic boots are a total wardrobe must-have, and Carrie's black and white Chanel ankle pair have served her well on numerous occasions, including on a date with fan-favourite (NB: irony) Petrovsky.

Silver barely-there sandals

A hint of metallic will go with practically any outfit, and we love Carrie's strappy silver sandals styled with a frothy sage green midi skirt.

Gladiator platforms

In the opening sequence of the 2008 film Sex And The City, Carrie teamed a white and gold hibiscus-adorned Eugene Alexander mini dress with Dior’s Extreme Gladiators, and we haven’t forgotten it.

Leopard mules

Carrie's love for a sleek pair of mules knows no bounds – and her wardrobe boasts the shoe style in a multitude of different colour ways. Wanting to make an impact? A dash of leopard print is a fool proof way of making a statement.

White heels

White heels are one of the trickiest shoe trends to pull off as they can instantly cheapen an outfit. However, Carrie took on the potential fashion faux pas and turned it on its head by teaming her pair with a graphic print dress and a soft brown blazer.

Black peep-toes

When the iconic show first dipped its toe into the world of cinema, Carrie proved that while her overall sense of style is super high octane, she is still partial to a minimalist shoe moment. These black peep-toes essentially forecasted the 'Quiet Luxury' trend. You heard it here first.

Bright yellow sandals

Another Carrie-casted vote for the mule came in the form of these vibrant yellow slip-ons. With a slight acidity to the shade, her shoes gave major 'Dopamine Dressing' vibes, before it was even a thing.

Lace-up booties

This look is one of the SATC all-time outfit greats. It shouldn't work, but it is proportionally flawless and absolutely does. The knee-high stockings and lace-up booties combo is so unbelievably noughties, but we're honestly not even mad about it.
