Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx Drama, What Did She Do? Anti-Semitism Post

If you weren’t online over the weekend of August 5, 2023, you may have missed the Jennifer Aniston and Jamie Foxx drama where both responded to allegations of anti-Semitism.

Foxx has been in the news for months with regard to his stint in hospital following a mystery health emergency. On April 12, 2023, Foxx’s daughter Corinne Foxx issued a since-deleted statement on her Instagram. “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday,” the statement read. “Luckily, due to quick action and care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”

A source “with direct knowledge” told TMZ that Fox experienced a “medical emergency” Tuesday morning on April 10, 2023, and was taken to the hospital. They were told his condition was serious enough that Jamie’s family, many who came out of town, came to the hospital. One source told the tabloid site, “He’s communicating now, and that’s good news.”

On Saturday July 22, 2023, Foxx finally posted about his condition on his Instagram. He posted the video with the caption, “Thank u a billion to everybody… been a long road but all the prayers great people and God got me through…. 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️” Though he didn’t disclose what he had, he thanked all his fans. “I went through something that I thought I would never, ever go through,” he said in the video. “I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear updates but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that man. I want you to see me laughing, having a good time partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was gonna make it through.”

He shouted out his support system. “To them, to God, to a lot of great medical people, I’m able to leave you this video,” he shared. “I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way, and y’all know they kept it airtight. They didn’t let nothing out. They protected me, and that’s what I hope that everyone could have in moments like these.” He also confirmed that he’s not “paralyzed” or “blind” as rumors circulated. “I went to hell and back, and my road to recovery had some potholes as well,” he explained. “But I’m coming back and I’m able to work.”

But we find him in the news again alongside his Horrible Bosses 2.

Jennifer Aniston & Jamie Foxx drama explained

Here’s everything we know about the Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx drama.

  • Saturday, August 5, 2023: Jennifer Aniston apologizes

After being screenshot for allegedly liking Foxx’s post, followers came for Jennifer Aniston, too, causing her to switch off comments on her Instagram account. She shared in a statement: “This really makes me sick,” which was posted on Instagram Stories. “I did not ‘like’ this post on purpose or by accident. And more importantly, I want to be clear to my and anyone hurt by this showing up in their feeds – I do not support antisemitism. And I truly don’t tolerate HATE of any kind. Period.”

  • Saturday, August 5, 2023: Foxx apologizes

In another social media post, Foxx apologized for the post. “I want to apologize to the Jewish community and everyone who has been offended by my post. I now know my choice of words have caused offense and I am sorry. That was never my intent,” he wrote. “To clarify, I was betrayed by a fake friend and that’s what I meant by ‘they’ not anything more. I only have love in my heart for everyone. I love and support the Jewish community. My deepest apologies to anyone who was offended. Nothing but love always.”

National Director and CEO of the Anti-Defamation League Jonathan Greenblatt tweeted to thank Foxx for his apology. “We welcome @iamjamiefoxx’s apology and thank him for his clarification. Furthermore, we wish him well as he recovers from his prior hospitalization,” he wrote online.

  • Friday, August 4 2023: Anti-Semitic Instagram post

On Friday August 4, 2023, Foxx shared on Instagram white text “They killed this dude named Jesus… what do you think they’ll do to you?” over a black background, using the hashtags #fakefriends #fakelove. Jennifer Aniston appeared to like Foxx’s Friday post in a screenshot shared by A Wider Frame—an outlet that aims to provide “a better overall understanding and scope of Jewish world news,” per its website. The post has since been deleted.

One interpretation of the post is that “they” was a reference to an idea used to justify violence against Jews for centuries: The crucifixion of Jesus Christ after Judas betrayed him by turning him into the Romans. A major document signed by the worldwide Roman Catholic church’s leadership during the Second Vatican Council in 1965 officially condemned the idea that Jews were collectively guilty for Christ’s killing.

However, some fans jumped to Foxx’s defense, arguing that “they killed Jesus” is a phrase commonly used in the Black community. “Jesus said in the Bible, “If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you.” So here we are. WE understood what was said,” one fan wrote. Another said: “If you knew anything about sayings in black Christian households you’d know that this was not meant in reference to Judaism or the Jewish people. It was more directed at his disciples as being fake friends. Que an old black granny saying ‘they killed Jesus, what you think they’d do to you’ it’s a way of saying if they did it to him you sho ain’t special hunny. I understand the tropes towards Jewish people. All this would have taken was a second of conversation and thought.”
